12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. 13 Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through prophecy when the body of elders laid their hands on you. – 1 Timothy 4: 12-14
At Pleasant Hill our goal for our students is that when they graduate from High School they do not graduate from their faith but that wherever they go they are equipped to continue to grow toward and serve God. We work to provide students in grades 7-12 with opportunity to stretch beyond the basics of faith and to work out what it means to follow God and to profess Jesus as “Lord and Savior” in everything they do. As with any age, our goal and prayer is that along with their families we can help and encourage students to develop a faith that lasts a life time.
Weekly Offerings for Youth (September-May)
Sunday School
Students in grades 7-12 gather together in the Youth Room on the second floor to explore God’s word and figure out what it really means for them and their lives. The focus on Sunday mornings range from purely studying books of the Bible to more topical studies dealing with the challenges faced by pre-teens and teenagers today.
Worship
At Pleasant Hill we seek to push back on the idea that teenagers are the “Church of Tomorrow” and make sure our students know that they are integral parts of our church right now by involving them in every aspect of worship: leading in song, reading scripture, leading times of prayer, working on our Audio/Visual team, and helping with Children’s Church and Nursery.
Wednesday Nights
Students meet from 6:15-7:15 on Wednesdays in the Youth Room to learn more about what it means to put their faith into action through service opportunities, digging in to Scripture, and opportunities to work with our Children and Adult ministries.
